Christmas minion nails

Hello my lovely readers, I can't believe we are only 6 days away from Christmas. I don't know if it is just me but this month has been flying by, I thought I had plenty of time left for some more festive mani's and some Christmas baking. So because I am running out of time way to fast I wanted to make some gingerbread cookies and mince pies, this resulted in my middle nail breaking so I am so sorry that he is a bit shorter than the rest. Hopefully with my Nailtiques formula 2 it will catch up with the rest before Christmas is over.

So for today's festive mani I have painted some Christmas minions onto my nails, if my nails had been a little bit longer I would have been able to give them there little red jackets but unfortunately I had to settle for just the eyes and there little Santa hats for now. Lets get into how I created my 10 little mischievous friends.
The first thing I did was choose my base colour, at the moment the only yellow creme polish I own is OPI I Just Can't Copecabana. This is opaque in 2 coats and has a really good formula, it does sometimes look quite streaky so may need a 3rd coat on longer nails. If you have any ideas on a better polish that would be good for a minion please leave a comment below, I would love to have a perfect minion yellow in my collection, although I don't think I Just Can't Cope-acabana is far off.
Next I gave my little minions there red Santa hats, to do this I first placed a straight nail vinyl close to my cuticles and then painted that in red. Before the polish had chance to dry I pulled the vinyl off to try and get the straightest line possible. After the red had completely dried I used my large dotting tool to make the fluffy part of the hat, this made it more obvious that they are Christmas minions I think.
Then after top coating their little hats and leaving that to completely dry I added in the minions goggles and eyes. To do this I took my large dotting tool with some silver Born pretty stamping polish and added a large dot for the outside of the minions goggles. Then I used my medium sized dotting tool to put a white dot for the eyes and then a small black dot for the minions pupils. If I did this over I would have probably made there eyes a bit bigger and closer to the hat.
All that was left to do to bring my minions to life was add the strap for the goggles and their little smiles. To do this I used a very small detail brush with some black polish, I then top coated all of the nails with my HK Girl top coat and left it to completely dry.
So here they are, my finished mischievous Christmas minions each one seems to have a different personality and for my first try at doing minion nails I am quite pleased. There are a few things that I would do differently if I was doing them again and I think they would look even better with longer nails because you could give them a little red jacket to go with their little hats.

I hope you have enjoyed this post and my little minions give you a bit of a smile, I will be attempting to do these again next year to see how much longer my nails are and how far my nail art has come. As always hope your having a fab nail day, please feel free to leave a comment below about this post or just my blog in general. Hope to see you all in the next post, only 6 days to go and so many ideas left in my head. Lets hope they can make it onto my nails in time.
